Governors' Camp

Set on the banks of the Mara River within the Maasai Mara reserve itself, this camp has operated for decades and is among the more established tented properties in the area. Spacious canvas tents are raised on wooden decking and furnished simply, with en-suite bathrooms and views out over the river or the surrounding plains.

The camp's location inside the reserve means game drives can begin the moment you leave your tent, and the river frontage regularly brings hippos and elephants into view from the central mess tent. A large communal area serves meals and drinks, with a campfire lit most evenings for guests to gather around after a day of game viewing.

Guiding is a particular strength here, with drivers experienced in reading the movement of wildlife across the open plains and along the river, including the seasonal river crossings when herds pass through the area.
